Something I am realizing about myself is that I am most definitely a "doer." If I am not actively involved in ministry for the Lord or, as I usually think of it, doing something for God (as if I could do anything for God), I feel compltely useless. I seem to need to be reminded over and over again that being loved by God and loving God is the highest relationship, the highest achievement, and the highest position in life. I pray that my relationship with the Lord would grow in the way that I do not need to be doing something to be fulfilled. "The need for solitude and quietness was never so great than it is today." (A.W. Tozer) I pray that instead of doing doing doing we would seek God in solitide and silence. "In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength..." (Isaiah 30:15) Lord- let me seek Thee in longing, let me long for Thee in seeking; let me find Thee in love, and love Thee in finding. (tozer) As we enter into a deeper love relationship with God we can't help but talk about Him and be used by Him, but our purpose is NEVER to be doing ministry....it is to love God with our whole heart, soul, mind, and body.
O God, I have tasted Thy goodness, and it has both satisfied me and made me thirsty for more. I am painfully conscious of my need of further grace. I am ashamed of my lack of desire. O God, the Triune God, I want to want Thee; I long to be filled with longing; I thirst to be made more thirsty still. Show me Thy glory, I pray Thee, that so I may know Thee indeed. Begin in mercy a new work of love within me. Say to my soul, `Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away.' Then give me grace to rise and follow Thee up from this misty lowland where I have wandered so long. In Jesus' name, Amen. -A.W. Tozer, The Pursuit of God
